General Description:

Able to sail a boat of about 20 feet in length in light to moderate winds and sea conditions in familiar waters without supervision. A preparatory standard with no auxiliary power or navigation skills required.

Sailing Skills

  • Sailing the points of sail lowering
  • Folding and proper stowage of sails

Man Overboard

  • Describe and demonstrate steps to recover MOB
  • Getting the person back on board

Seamanship

  • Steering by the lee
  • Backing a boat with sails
  • Securing a boat to a dock
  • Knots
This course is taught either as a private lesson for one or two people in one full day or two half days. The course can also be incorporated in one of the longer cruises as well.
